Title “Comments Are Crucial” by Caroline Rawlins

Date: January 31, 2010

http://crawlins.wordpress.com/2010/01/30/comments-are-crucial/

I agree that blogging needs to become part of your everyday routine to become apart of the blogging world. That is a great way to think about it when you said its “like going to the gym, brushing your teeth, or going to class.”

I also think that being able to comment on others blogs, and have people comment on your own blog posts allows feedback and to express your opinions. I think it is great that you also mention to never leave rude comments. I feel that if people begin to leave comments that are condescending, then it will hurt the blogging community because people will be afraid to express their true feelings.

After leaving comments on a few peoples blogs, I can already tell that being able to comment makes blogging so much more interesting! Great job on this blog, keep it up!

Title: ap style bootcamp by Professor Barbara Nixon

Date: February 1, 2010

http://publicrelationsmatters.com/2010/02/01/ap-style-bootcamp/

I finished watching the AP Style video boot camp. This video was very informative for me. I think it is important to use and become familiar with this style, as the video told us that newspapers use this style. I feel that in public relations writing there are so many rules to remember. That is why I am thankful to have all of these video’s and classes, such as the clean your copy class that was required for my public relations writing class. I also feel that this video was much more helpful than the clean your copy class that I took. Now that I know how to organize this book I feel that it will make writing a lot easier for me.

Title: Pack the House in Pink

I think that this event is great! It raises so much awareness for breast cancer, which affects so many people. I think it is great that so many people contribute to making this event happen. I read in my public relations book, which is Public Relations Writing and Media Techniques (6th Ed.) many different ways to create news. One of those ways was to team up with another organization. I think Phi Mu and Zeta Tau Alpha are doing a great job by teaming up with each other. By teaming up they are creating more awareness for this event. I think it is very smart to have this event be at a Georgia Southern basketball event, because the basketball games already get a lot of support. Great Job! This is a great example of Public Relations!

Title: What makes a story newswothy?

Jessica! I think you have some great ideas to add news to Alpha Delta Pi! I really love some of the events that ADPI puts on and participates in. I think that one of the best events is the charity denim. This is such a great event to have on a college campus. I also know that the Smoke out for Lung Cancer is coming up soon, I think that this is for such a great cause. It would be great for more people on campus to hear about it. A great idea to create news for ADPi philantrophy is the can tab competition, and I feel that ADPi should make this a bigger deal around campus! I know that you are the Public Relations chair for Alpha Delta Pi and I think that you are the perfect person to do the job! These are great examples of things to do! Keep up the great work!

Title: Week 7: A Week of Tweeting

Date: March 1, 2010

http://laurynwilliams.wordpress.com/2010/02/21/week-7-a-week-of-tweeting/#comment-11

Hey! I loved tweeting also! Although at first I thought it was annoying, because the week that we had to tweet was in the same week as my birthday, so most of my tweets had to deal with my birthday! lol I ended up really enjoying it. I also am having a problem like you and Jessica with posting the whole URL. Maybe we should bring this to Professor Nixon’s attention. I also agree that I want to make twitter apart of my everyday life. I feel that it is becoming such a big part of a lot of people’s life that it will be a great networking tool. Keep up the great work!

I LOVED the show! I do have to admit that I am a reality television junkie though.. I thought it was great that I could watch television while being educated! :) I agree that viewers who are not in the PR industry will not understand the show and appreciate it like we do. I am a little nervous that this show is giving the industry a bad name. I think that it is focusing more on the drama and the partying than the Public Relations side. It is a television show, so I understand why they would do that I am just nervous that it is going to give Public Relations a bad reputation! Great Post!

I really enjoyed reading this article! I am a fashion merchandising major with a minor in public relations. I love that you found an article that ties the two together! I think that would be such an amazing job to manage a twitter account or blog. Im pretty sure from these two classes that you are enrolled in, that you have had enough practice and would be great at it! Also, how did you add that article to your post. I am not good with technology stuff and Im still trying to figure things out! Great article! Keep up the great work! :)

Title: PR Connection 1: “The SPINdustry”

Date: March 8, 2010

http://sarahgricius.wordpress.com/2010/03/07/pr-connections-1-the-spindustry/

Hey! I also watched “The SPINdustry” after watching the Kardashians. I really enjoyed this show. I also thought that Simon Huck and Jonathan Cheban were very entertaining. I personally thought that the day to day lives of these Public Relations practitioners were so interesting and seemed like a very exciting day. I am afraid that people who are not involved in public relations will view this show negatively, because they do not know how much hard work goes into each event. Great post! Can’t wait to see how the rest of the show turns out!

Title: Smoke Out For Lung Cancer

Date: March 22, 2010

http://crawlins.wordpress.com/category/pr-connections/

Hey! I am so glad you wrote about Smoke Out! I really enjoy this event that Alpha Delta Pi hosts with Delta Tau Delta. It is such a fun event that goes to a great cause. Although this year there was yucky weather, I think that it still was a great event. The food was good and it looked like a lot of people attending. Hopefully we raised a lot of money for the American Cancer Fund. I think it is great to put on events like Smoke Out to prove people with the bad impressions of greek life wrong! Great post!!! :)

Great job Lauryn! Being apart of Alpha Delta Pi, I personally know Elizabeth Powell. You did a great job describing her and all the work that she has put into our sorority. I love the picture that you chose. I think it shows how much hard work and dedication that she has put into Alpha Delta Pi, but also that she still wants to have fun! The quotes that you also chose went great for describing Elizabeth. This post looked very professional! Keep up the great work!:)

P.s. How do you upload pictures like you did! I always seem to have a problem with it!

Hey! I heard about this and it hit home for me because I went to Georgia College and State University my freshman year of college. This is such a surprise to me because it is such a small town. It really does not get much action at all. I was completly surprised to find that the charges were drop. I guess that is a great thing for him, but it just seems very ironic. I do not think this is the first time a situation like this has come up fro Rosethlisberger either. Hopefully he will stay away from GCSU! This was a great topic for PR connections! Keep up the great work!

Social Media News Release: Sarah Kammer, the Hammer Behind Alpha Delta Pi

This was a great post! Being apart of Alpha Delta Pi I know Sarah Kammer. You did a very good job at describing her! She is very involved and helped Alpha Delta Pi out tremendously. I love the quote “With ADPi I have 125 girlfriends that will help me no matter what.” I also feel this way. Also the picture is a very great picture! I need to learn how to upload photos like that! Great job on this post! Keep up the great work! Almost summer!

Title: Social Media News Releases: The Basics And Beyond

Social Media News Releases: The Basics and Beyond.

For our Public Relations class I also did a blog about Social Media News Releases. It was really interesting to me to really dig into what Social Media News Releases are. I thought the best advantage of SMNRs is that it makes the story more interactive and interesting. I can only imagine how boring a journalist job could become looking at the same boring press releases day after day. The new SMNR have pictures, videos, and other things to make help with this! Great post!

Title: Ipad.. not so great after all

Date: April 20th

IPad…not so great after all.

Hey Caroline! Honestly.. I did not hear that much about the ipad. Although I do have a Mac computer I am not good with technology so things like the ipad do not interest me. And as clumsy and forgetful I would more than likely lose or damage the ipad if I did get one. I think Apple is trying to stay at the top of the technological world, but this seems to be a waste in my opinion. Great topic to choose to write about though!

Title: Week 16: Tips for new bloggers

Week 16: Tips for new bloggers. Get excited!

These were great tips that you gave us! I really do not like blogging, but I have to do it anyways for my public relations class. For the class that I am in, my best tip would be to keep up with your blog. This will prevent you from having to blog a million things at the end of the semester, when there are other things that I need to be focusing on! haha But I really so agree that to become a very good blogger, you need to comment on others blogs. This creates a network for you! Great job!

Title: Where do you get your news from

Date: April 20th

Where Do You Get Your News?

Honestly.. I get most of the news that I hear from my mom. I do not really have that much time to watch television for the news. So she keeps me updates. But other than that, I would say the internet. This is probably because computers are so accessible to the public now. Now that I live away from home by myself, I feel like I never even see a newspaper anymore! The only place I might see one and read it is in COBA. And that is more of the local news. If i have time I will check out the BBC news online. I am sure it is a great website.

TOW 7

Hey Lauren!
I felt the same way about all of the user names being taken! It was very annoying! At first I really did not want to get a twitter, because of all of the other things that we have had to start in our Public Relations class, but I really enjoyed Twitter. I think it is easier to twitter if you have a smart phone that you are able to access it from there. I do not have a blackberry, so it was annoying when I would tweet about something, but did not have access to a computer. Because of this I would normally forget about what I was going to tweet about! Great post!

Title: Week 3

Week 3

Date: April 21st

I agree that commenting on blogs is very important. I think that commenting is what makes the blogging community so great. It is what creates a network. I like that I can get feedback on what I write, and that I can also give my opinion to others blogs. I think it is very important to be respectful of others blogs. If you disagree that it fine, but you can say it in a respectful way. I have not gotten in rude comments, but I know it would hurt my feelings if I found a mean comment. This is a really good post!

Title: Final Project: The Social Media News Release

http://michellev21.wordpress.com/2010/04/23/final-project-social-media-news-releases/#comment-37

Date: April 21st

For our Public Relations class, I also choose to blog about Social Media News Releases. I learned a lot from doing this. I know we had read about them in previous chapters from our book, but I did not really understand them to the extent that I do now. I think that these are really great for journalists. I know that I would be so bored if I were a journalist who had to just read the old plain press releases. They are much more interactive. The most important thing that I took from researching SMNR is that the message and content still matter the most, so just because you spend a lot of time with pictures and video, the message still needs to be your main focus!

Title: Ba da ba ba ba, Im Lovin’ it

Date: April 23rd

PR Connection 6:Ba da ba ba ba, I’m Lovin It

I think that is so neat that you have not eaten McDonald’s, but believe me I do not think that you are missing out on much! McDonald’s is known around the world, and I feel that no matter what they do for promotion it will not change their customers loyalty. I really like their “I’m loving it!” but i think the idea of getting more of an emotional appeal is a great idea. I also agree with you that I do not particularly like the car commerical with the new born. I guess we will just have to wait and see how all of this new promotion does for McDonalds!

GO GREEK

You are doing a great job at promotion Panhellenic! I just joined the facebook group and I think that Panhellenic is moving in the right direction by recruiting underclassmen. I agree that the social media aspects of facebook and twitter are helping. As you can see I have been reached, so hopefully people will see that I have joined the group and also join! Keep up the great work! And keep spreading the word about Greek Life!

I also have not been able to watch this show, because statesboro cable is HORRIBLE! I want to watch it when I go home for the summer though. I also first heard of Kelly Cutrone on “The Hills”. I can only imagine how she acts on her new shows. She was so mean, but that is what makes her so successful. I am also a Fashion Merchandising major with a minor in Public Relations. So this show is the perfect thing for me! Great topic!

Title: PR has Kate Gosselin a media star

PR has Kate Gosselin a media star

Date: April 24th

I do not agree with Kate Goselin, but I have not been in her position. I am a firm believer that a mother needs to put her children first and foremost. And I cannot even imagine having 8 children and still doing all of the things that she is doing. I feel that she should start focusing less on her fame and the media and more on her children. It just seems very selfish to me, but like I said I have not been in her position. So I guess I can’t really speak until I have eight children.. Let’s hope not! haha

“If You Have To Cry…Go Outside”

Honestly.. I will be buying and reading this book! I am a Fashion Merchandising major with a minor in Public Relations and Marketing! I loved Kelly Cutrone on “The Hills” and “The City”. I do think that the television shows may have tried to make her look meaner than she really is, so I am excited to see if she has a different side! Which let’s be honest for the sake of her daughter I hope she does!!

Title: Betty White Likes Her Dogs Naked

Betty White Likes Her Dogs “Naked”

I love the title of your blog post! I think that this was a great way to get her name out there even more than it is, like you said! This story isn’t even that interest.. probably because it is about a hot dog! lol but the fact that it made the news for people to hear about her is a big deal! Her publicist did a great job with this! But I will say this.. if I choose to eat a hot dog it will for sure not be a naked one!! Im a Ketchup kind of girl! :) Great post!
